Post It Mondays
SaBaiDee my friends, family and acquaintances! I would like to take this time to give a little insight on how my “Post-It Monday’s” came about. Before I dive in, I picked the 9 photos/quotes that resonate with me the most. Some of these are because of the quotes, and a couple are because of what the picture meant to me.
I started writing inspirational quotes on post-it notes and leaving them around work and my desk at home as daily reminders. Something I’m sure a lot of you do as well, in some shape or form. Quotes are great, however, I think we all can agree they are just words on paper unless we go and live them out. So that was my goal, to write down a quote and then put extra emphasis on it that day to make it become a subconscious behavior.
One day an associate of mine, Vanessa @oneorangeapple, took notice and recommended that I start posting them on Monday’s as a way to inspire others at the beginning of the week. She also suggested I use the hashtag #postitmonday as a way to catalog and brand them. So thats how it all started!
My very first “Post-It Monday” was on March 24th, 2014.

I know all my hip hop heads loved that one! Aside from your standard philosophical quotes, I liked to post song lyrics because we all know how music can affect us emotionally. I started not posting who the artist was just to see if people could recognize the song!
2014 was a year where I was hiking and traveling a lot for CloudNine Clothing. One morning after a business meeting in Los Angeles, another hip hop rhymed popped in my head and I thought to myself, “I need to write this down on a post-it note and post it!” So I ran (okay, I walked swiftly) to the hotel’s front desk to ask if they had any post-notes. Luckily they did, but they didn’t have any sharpies so I ended up just using a bic pen. 🙄 Lol. Anyhow, here was the quote and duh, it’s from one of my favorite rappers of all time. 2nd to be exact. (Rip Tupac)

From that day on, I carried post-it notes and a sharpie with me almost EVERYWHERE!”
Fast forward to 2015, my good friend @sara_loves_nature 💜🙏🏽, suggested Neilani and I take on this new challenge called the 52 Hike Challenge ( @52hikechallenge ). I figured why not since we were already doing a lot of hikes and this would also provide me with more great backdrops for “Post-It Monday’s”. So a majority of my post-notes are from these hikes specifically.
These past few years I’ve met a lot of great individuals who don’t hesitate to encourage me and remind me that my words, actions, quotes and adventures truly help them through tough times. I can’t describe in words how much that means to me. From random messages to meeting people for the first time and seeing their faces when they realize it’s actually me writing and taking the pictures of the post-it notes. Haha. “Nate, that’s really you and your handwriting?!?” I know, I know, a “guy” shouldn’t have good handwriting, right?!? Stop stereotyping!! LOL. But for reals, it’s because of you supporters that I strive to know better and do better. I truly want to prove y’all right.
These words and quotes have been around forever. Many wise people have spoken and lived them in the past and many continue to do so presently. I only hope I can do the same and inspire the people around me and the next generation as well.
In conclusion, here is a behind the scenes shot ( photo cred: @kend0ng ) of me taking a picture of a quote during a memorial hike for my good buddy, Michael @michaelpowellphotography 💚🙏🏽, while being assisted by a tru frenn, @silentg_. The quote reads,
